Gaining Another Daughter

On April 13th our youngest son, Guy proposed to his girlfriend here on the ranch. We are thrilled that she said YES and in the spring of next year we will be gaining another daughter!

This was the FIFTH proposal to happen on the ranch. My husband proposed to me here in 1990, my brother-in-law proposed to my sister here in 1995, two of my other children became engaged here and now Guy and Kyndal become the fifth couple to begin their journey here on the ranch. I am happy to say that the prior four marriages are going strong!! Guy proposed to Kyndal at the same pond and not far from where Bowen proposed to me. It was so special that Guy chose such a meaningful place.

The proposal and celebration afterwards were a surprise to Kyndal. It took both families, more than a few fibs and some intricate logistics to pull off the surprise. I know I say this in almost every blog post, but having a daughter-in-law who is a professional photographer makes for some beautifully captured moments for our family. Especially a daughter-in-law who is willing to hide in a deer blind across the pond to capture the moment.

A huge thank you tosweet Abby,

I love this photo of Guy pointing out where Abby was hiding.

These two were high school sweethearts and then have been long distance since they both accepted athletic scholarships at different universities. They are looking forward to finally being together forever!

After Guy proposed, he walked her back to the house where both families and an entire engagement party had magically appeared!! The shock on her face and the smile on Guy's was priceless and worth every bit of the work!

Hugs and congratulations all around! All of their siblings, many aunts and uncles, grandparents, neices and nephews all wanted to congratulate the happy couple.

Then it was on to some good fun, good food and celebrating with an "I DO BBQ!"

I decorated with a BBQ theme in red, white and black to keep things from being too frilly just yet. We had BBQ catered and Kyndal's Nana brought homemade desserts! Our talented daughter-in-law, Kaitlin created the welcome sign. Heather from Maven Gift Designs did the personalized koozies, cups and napkins. The decorated sugar cookies from Sage Country Cookie Co. completed the theme.

It was truly a perfect evening. Together, we pulled off the surprise! Guy was smiling ear to ear, Kyndal couldn't stop admiring her beautiful new ring and they were surrounded by generations of family. We couldnt ask for our boy to be any happier and we are blessed that friends who are like family will soon become family. God is good.
