So, I can't let September end without saying, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LONE STAR BARN!!!!
On a sunny September day last year, I took the plunge and took my small but rapidly growing wreath hobby and turned it into an officially licensed business in the state of Texas!! Going to get my business license that day was just one of a multitude of errands on my "To Do" list, so I hadn't given the actual moment much thought.. I was completely surprised and overcome with emotion by the feeling of pride and excitement as I walked out of the county courthouse a business owner!!! With no one around to share my giddiness, I snapped a quick selfie to mark the moment.
Meanwhile.. back at the ranch... my small, custom finished wreath barn was being delivered. Now I could move out of the house (where I had taken over every available surface) and have a creative space of my very own! Isn't she just darling?!
The past year has been a whirlwind of creating, learning and growing. Owning a home based, creative business is MUCH harder than I ever dreamed but much more rewarding as well. I have established something of my very own that I am proud of but not satisfied with. Much more to come!
I could not have begun this with out the love, support and encouragement I received from my husband, children, parents, extended family and friends! Thank you to the friends who saw the wreaths I first made for myself and asked if I would make a wreath for them to buy.. you were my first "customers." You planted the seed, started the ball rolling and gave me the confidence I needed to believe that I could do this!! Thank you!!
